Grade A Fire Alarm Panel Installation & Commissioning in Dartford (Childcare Property) 28/03/2026

We recently completed a Grade A fire alarm system installation and commissioning at a childcare rental property in Dartford, Kent. Because the building is used for childcare, the fire safety requirements were extremely strict. The client needed a fully compliant, reliable system that met BS 5839‑1 standards and satisfied all landlord and childcare fire‑safety obligations.

Scope of Work

As part of this project, we supplied and installed:

  • A new Grade A fire alarm control panel

  • A compliant manual call point at the entrance

  • Full system wiring using surface‑mounted trunking

  • Metal fire‑resistant clips installed every metre inside the trunking

  • Full testing, commissioning, and certification

  • 4 emergency lights installed complimentary (client supplied the fittings)

Fuse Board Replacement After Failed EICR – Romford 26/03/2026

We carried out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at a property in Romford. The installation failed due to several safety issues, including an outdated fuse board. To bring the system up to current standards, we replaced the old unit with a new, fully compliant consumer unit.

Challenges & How We Solved Them:

The first challenge was the extremely tight cupboard space, which left very little room to install a modern consumer unit. We don’t use basic dual‑RCD boards — we always provide customers with a higher‑quality solution. In this case, we installed a compact FuseBox consumer unit with Type A RCBOs and SPD, which fits neatly in restricted spaces and offers better protection and convenience for the customer. The second challenge was timing: the customer needed the work completed within 24 hours of the failed EICR. We prioritised the job immediately and completed the full replacement the same day, finishing around 8 PM to ensure the property was safe and compliant.

Grade D Mains Radio‑Linked Smoke & Heat Alarm System – 6‑Bedroom HMO in Dartford 29/03/2026

We recently installed a Grade D mains‑powered, radio‑linked smoke and heat alarm system for a 6‑bedroom HMO application in Dartford, Kent. This system was required to meet HMO licensing fire‑safety standards, ensuring the property complies with local authority regulations and provides reliable protection for future tenants.

Because this was a full HMO conversion, the client needed a system that was:

  • Fully compliant with BS 5839‑6
  • Interlinked across all bedrooms and communal areas
  • Mains‑powered with battery backup
  • Radio‑linked to avoid unnecessary disruption

 How We Installed the System

One major advantage on this project was that we found clean access from the roof, which allowed us to run cables neatly upstairs without using any surface trunking. We always aim to minimise trunking wherever possible to maintain a clean, professional finish.

The final installation included:

  • Mains‑powered Grade D smoke alarms in all required rooms
  • A heat alarm in the kitchen
  • Full radio‑link interconnection
  • Certification for HMO fire‑safety compliance

Challenges & How We Resolved Them:

Limited Loft Access Due to Flat Roof

The property had a flat roof, which meant we didn’t have full loft access.
Despite this, we managed to fish the cables through carefully, working methodically until we achieved the routes we needed. It took extra time and patience, but seeing the customer’s smile at the end
