The alarm grade you need depends on your property type, risk level, and legal requirements.
For standard houses and flats, a Grade D1 (mains interlinked) system is usually required.
For HMOs, commercial buildings, restaurants, shops, and multi‑storey properties, councils normally require a Grade A fire alarm panel with L1 or L2 coverage.
If you’re unsure, we advice you to contact your local council.
For standard domestic properties and typical HMO layouts, we can usually provide a quote without visiting, as long as we have the basic property details.
For Grade A fire alarm panel installations, a site visit is normally required so we can confirm:
cable routes
panel location
detector/CP positions
access issues
material and labour calculations
We do not charge for the site visit itself. However, parking and congestion charges (if applicable) will be charged.
Yes — we install, test, and commission AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) smoke vent panels, including window actuators, control panels, fireman switches, and integration with existing fire alarm systems. AOV systems are normally required in HMOs, stairwells, commercial buildings, and properties with smoke shafts.
If you already know your council’s requirement, we can provide a quote based on the specification. For more complex systems, we may recommend a site visit to confirm actuator locations and cable routes.
After the installation is completed and full payment is received, we issue the appropriate NICEIC‑approved certificates based on the type of system installed:
Grade D / D1 Smoke & Heat Alarms You receive a Domestic Fire Alarm Certificate (BS 5839‑6) confirming the system meets LD2/LD3 requirements.
Grade A Fire Alarm Panel Systems You receive a Fire Alarm Installation Certificate (BS 5839‑1) along with system details, device list, and commissioning notes.
AOV / Smoke Vent Systems We provide an AOV Commissioning Certificate confirming correct operation, actuator testing, and panel setup.
All certificates are issued digitally and are fully accepted by local councils, building control, and HMO licensing teams.
